Regional Initiatives

Blue River Summit, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers: Organized and facilitated the Blue River Summit. The Summit was a regional effort in the Kansas City metropolitan area to foster increased understanding of the Blue River Watershed’s resources, challenges and opportunities. The Summit included approximately 200 representatives from governmental and private sector organizations and individuals. It resulted in the identification of improvement strategies and the development of a cooperation framework for future work in the watershed.

Air Quality Workshop, Mid-America Regional Council (MARC): Assisted with preparation and facilitation of the region’s Air Quality Workshop. The workshop involved representatives from government and business. Prepared the agenda, invitation mailing list, background information on existing voluntary measures and presentations. Recruited and trained facilitators.

SMART MOVES Regional Transit Project, Mid-America Regional Council (MARC): SMART MOVES is a long-range regional transit plan developed by the Kansas City Area Transit Authority and MARC. Worked with regional transit operators and MARC staff to design the community presentation and input process. Prepared materials to advertise the events. Facilitated seven community forums across the region. Prepared the discussion guide. Prepared a questionnaire and comment card. Prepared the PowerPoint presentation and exhibits. Facilitated post-presentation discussion by area planning professionals. Assisted with final report preparation.
