Transportation Planning

Operation Green Light Program Plan, Mid-America Regional Council (MARC): Operation Green Light is a regional project to synchronize traffic signals in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The goal is to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality. Worked with Public Works directors, traffic managers, and representatives from the Missouri Department of Transportation and Kansas Department of Transportation to prepare a consensus-based plan for the initial phase of the project. The program plan included program outcomes, guiding principles, governance, and funding plan components. Conducted personal interviews, facilitated group meetings, and wrote plan components.

Non-Motorized Transportation Plan, City of Lenexa, Kansas: Project Manager for preparation of the City’s non-motorized transportation plan. Developed the request for proposals and selection process. Managed the consultant and staff working on the project. Designed planning process and facilitated public meetings. Public involvement included meetings, city newsletter articles, e-newsletters, media releases, and one-on-one meetings with bicyclists. Prepared draft plan sections including institutional arrangements, project prioritization, and funding options.

SMART MOVES Regional Transit Project, Mid-America Regional Council (MARC): SMART MOVES is a long-range regional transit plan developed by the Kansas City Area Transit Authority and MARC. Worked with regional transit operators and MARC staff to design the community presentation and input process. Prepared materials to advertise the events. Facilitated seven community forums across the region. Prepared the discussion guide. Prepared a questionnaire and comment card. Prepared the PowerPoint presentation and exhibits. Facilitated post-presentation discussion by area planning professionals. Assisted with final report preparation.

Linking Conservation and Transportation Planning Workshop, Mid-America Regional Council (MARC): Facilitated workshop which brought together experts in the fields of conservation and transportation planning as well as representatives of local government in order to create a transportation plan that is sensitive to wildlife and ecosystems. Participants reviewed existing resources and best practices, and identified policy and process changes needed to achieve better integration of conservation and transportation planning. A draft Action Plan was developed and, along with MARC’s Long-Range Transportation Plan, will help create a more eco-friendly regional transportation system in Kansas City through the year 2030.

Regional Arterial Management System Feasibility (RAMS) Study, East-West Gateway Council of Governments:  RAMS is a regional project to synchronize traffic signals in the St. Louis metropolitan area. The goal is to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality. Worked with Public Works directors, traffic managers, and representatives from the Missouri Department of Transportation to prepare a policy plan consisting of mutually agreed upon guiding principles, governance, funding options and program outcomes. Conducted personal interviews, facilitated group meetings, and wrote plan components.
