Redevelopment

Reuse Plan, Sugar Creek, Missouri: Facilitated a planning process to develop a reuse plan for the BP Amoco site in Sugar Creek, Missouri. The reuse plan was the first step toward site redevelopment and guided Amoco in designing an appropriate corrective action plan for agency review. The goal was a reuse of the site that fully protected public health and the environment, and supported economic development.

Grandview Area Housing Assessment, City of Merriam, Kansas: Evaluated whether the Grandview area is eligible for a redevelopment district designation under state statutes. Grandview is generally bordered by Johnson Drive on the north, 62nd Street on the south, Slater on the east and Interstate 35 on the west. Performed a windshield survey of the Grandview area to determine the general condition of the housing stock and, more specifically, determine whether the housing stock is deteriorated or deteriorating according to the Kansas statutes. Developed an assessment tool to conduct the windshield survey, conducted the windshield survey and documented structures and conditions with digital photos. Developed a color-coded Geographic Information System (GIS) map to explain the findings. Prepared a final written report and a PowerPoint presentation regarding redevelopment districts.
