Strategic Planning
Strategic Plan, Little Blue Valley Sewer District, Independence, Missouri: Project manager for preparation of a long-range Strategic Plan for this wholesale wastewater district serving Eastern Jackson County and Northern Cass County, Missouri. The plan sets strategic policy guidance through vision, mission, values and policy statements.
The Strategic Plan was prepared to guide the development of the long-term Master Plan, Operations Plan and Resource Management Plan that will provide for the sustainable development of the region over the next 20 to 50 years.
The process involved customer cities, regulators, board members, and staff in the identification of future trends and development of integrated strategies. The plan focused heavily on implementation of a two-year work plan and initiated a system for ongoing evaluation and planning.
This plan was the winner of the Missouri Chapter of the American Planning Association Outstanding Comprehensive Plan for 1998.
Northeast Leavenworth Strategic Plan, City of Leavenworth, Kansas: Project manager for the development of a long-range plan for this distressed neighborhood. The plan development process involved over 160 stakeholders. Major issues included redevelopment, neighborhood safety and infrastructure. The plan included housing infill recommendations, a capital improvements plan, an arborway beautification plan and a new organization to implement the plan. This planning process was a major factor in the City’s Blue Ribbon Community Award from Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
City of Blue Springs, Missouri Parks & Recreation Strategic Plan: Project manager for preparation of an update to the Parks & Recreation Department’s Strategic Plan. A series of community workshops was held with nearly 50 stakeholders who developed a list of issues to be addressed, identified goals, objectives, & action steps, identified areas in the community for potential parks & open spaces, and discussed potential funding sources. The input received resulted in a plan that recommended the department to focus on programs for people of all ages & needs, places for a growing community, and building on progress & investing in the future.
Strategic Plan Facilitation for Fern Webster Fund, Mid-America Regional Council (MARC): Worked with a steering committee to prepare strategic planning process, prepared background data sheets, and distributed to potential participants. Assisted with stakeholder recruitment, facilitated strategic planning sessions, and prepared summary recommendations and reports.
